Reporting to the Bull-Pen
The State Tournament uses a bout board system. Please be sure to review how this works
Each match has a bout number. The bout numbers in the program may not match the actual bout numbers as the programs went to print earlier in the week and some changes take place after the printing. These changes are due to injured or ill wrestlers who are unable to compete. A current bracket sheet will be available for you on the first day with the purchase of a program. Updates will be sold at the front of the arena Sunday morning for Day 2.
- Each clock has the match number of the current match displayed.
- The bout board will list your wrestler's name along with his opponent and the bout number
- When you see your wrestlers name and bout number has moved to the "Warm Up" position on the board, you need to report to the "Bull-Pen" area located beneath the stands on the east side of the arena (section J).
- When your wrestlers name and bout number moves to the "Bull-Pen" position on the Bout Board, you are to report to the table that has the monitor in the Bull-Pen area. You will give the person at the table your wrestler's bout number and name. Only 2 coaches per wrestlers will be permitted beyond this point.
- When your wrestler's name and bout number moves to the "On Deck" position on the Bout Board, you are to report to the 2nd table that has the monitor in the Bull-Pen area. Your wrestler's name and bout number will be called by one of the tournament bout runners. Please listen carefully so you do not miss your calling.
- The Bout Runner will escort your wrestler, his opponent and the two coaches of each wrestler, to the mat which they will be wrestling on.
- You will be greeted at the mat by the On Deck Official. He will assign the anklet colors and instruct you to stay in the On Deck area till your bout is ready. Please have your wrestler ready to report to the table as quickly as possible.
- After your match, you will need to leave the floor area as soon as possible. Take a moment to gather your wrestle's belongings and then the wrestler and both coaches are to exit the floor at the Head Table end of the arena. You will exit on the opposite side of where you entered the floor. Do not exit back through the Bull Pen.
Wrestler Failing to Report for Match
If a wrestler does not show in the Bull-Pen for his match, an announcement will be made for him to report to the Bull-Pen immediately. After 3 minutes should the wrestler still not show in the Bull-Pen, a final announcement will be made in which the wrester has 2 minutes to report to the Bull-Pen. If the wrestler still does not report his opponent will be taken to the mat and receive a forfeit.
